Chiranjeevi’s Acharya has been postponed due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in India. The film was originally scheduled to release on February 4th,2022, but COVID-19 has other plans for the film. The makers took to Twitter to announce the postponement of the film.
Considering the scale and budget of the film, the makers have found it best to release it on a more convenient date. Rajasekhar’s Shekar will be taking the place of Acharya and is set to release on February 4th, 2022.
This is not the first Telugu film to be postponed this year due to COVID-19. Many biggies like RRR, and Radhe Shyam also postponed their films due to the virus. This is a worrying sign for the Telugu film industry, which had its hopes set on the biggies.
This is also disappointing news for Mega fans as this is the first time Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan will be seen together in full-fledged roles. The first looks and the teasers from the film generated massive hype around Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s role in the film. It is a shame that the audience will have to wait longer to see the father-son duo on screen.
Acharya also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Pooja Hegde, Sonu Sood, and Ajay among others. Koratala Siva is the director of the movie. Announcements regarding the new release date will be made soon.
