Tamil star Ajith Kumar scored a proper blockbuster with his recent release, Good Bad Ugly. If we look at Tamil cinema’s tier-1 stars like Rajinikanth and Vijay, they score massive blockbusters at the box office. Despite getting success, Ajith’s box office stamina is not enough in the competition.
As said above, Superstar Rajini and Thalapathy Vijay are way ahead in collections, while Ajith and Kamal Haasan are also still maintaining strong box office potential, but they are not able to consistently deliver blockbusters in a huge range.
In this generation, only Ajith and Vijay are tier-1 stars in Tamil. However, the Vishwasam actor is struggling to compete with Vijay and Rajinikanth at the box office in recent years. As said above, Ajith sees success with his latest film, Good Bad Ugly.
Ajith is far behind Vijay and Rajini in the Box Office Comparison
But this film is heading toward 250 Cr closing, whereas Vijay’s recent film, GOAT, collected over 450 Cr gross worldwide despite getting mixed reviews. There is a lot of difference between these two stars. Ajith’s box office stamina is not enough compared to Vijay.
Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Vijay all have achieved 400 Cr milestones, and Rajini and Vijay even achieved 500 Cr and 600 Cr milestones, whereas Ajith is yet to join the 300 Cr club, even when his movies are getting successful.
Recently, Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran also joined the 300 Cr club. The Tamil market is so big, but the main disadvantage for Ajith is that he is competing with Vijay and Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu markets only, while in other markets like overseas, Kerala, and Telugu states, he lacks a strong market, and that is why his films are not gaining momentum.
Ajith needs to work with some universal directors like Atlee, Lokesh, or Nelson to raise his market in other territories too.
