Bangarraju was released on 14th January 2022 amidst decent hype. Despite the poor advance bookings in many areas, the film has performed well on its first day according to estimates. Bangarraju has set the Telugu film industry on top at the Indian level.
Bangarraju is the only Indian film that has opened to extraordinary collections for Sankranthi 2022. Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, many biggies like RRR and Radhe Shyam from Telugu and Valimai from Tamil for postponed. This meant that many medium and low-budget films entered the Sankranthi 2022 race.
Three films have been released this Sankranthi from the Telugu film industry, Rowdy Boys has opened to poor collections despite being promoted more than Bangarraju. Mega Hero Kalyaan Dhev’s Super Machi has also opened to disastrous collections.
Coming to the Tamil film industry, 6 films are in theatres currently. None of them have been able to achieve a decent start at the collections box. A similar pattern is visible in Malayalam and other languages as well.
All the movies have been struggling at the box office this Sankranthi, but Bangarraju is off to a fantastic start. The film has collected a share of 7 crores in estimates at the box office and is on track to perform better in the coming days. The film will also have the Sankranthi and weekend advantage.
