Avatar 2 crosses 2 Billion mark at Global Box Office

James Cameron’s blockbuster sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water” has created history by crossing $2 billion in global box office after just six weeks of its release. Overall, It’s the sixth film in Hollywood to pass over the mark and first since the post pandemic era. Avatar The Way Of Water joins the list of an exclusive club that includes “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Titanic,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

Now James Cameron becomes the Only director with three films to cut across $2 billion. Interesting thing is, Zoe Saldana, who appears as Neytiri in the “Avatar” series, has now been part of four of the six films to cross $2 billion. She also shows up in both “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” reprising her “Guardians of the Galaxy” role of Gamora.

The first part of “Avatar,” which released in theaters 13 years ago, remains the biggest grosser of all time with $2.9 billion. “Avengers: Endgame” is close behind in second place with $2.79 billion, while “Titanic” stands as the third-highest grossing release ever with $2.19 billion.

Avatar 2 the much-awaited sequel to the 2009 blockbuster ‘Avatar’, is one of the most expensive films ever made, stars Sam Zoe Saldaana, Worthington, Kate Winslet, Sigourney Weaver in lead roles. The movie traces the life of the Sully family, having Jake, Neytiri and their kids. Steven Lang’s Quaritch and his clan attack them, and how Sully’s retort forms the rest of the story.
