During the meeting with Chiranjeevi, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, and a few other prominent members from the Telugu Film Industry, Jagan spoke about his plans for the expansion of Telugu cinema in Andhra Pradesh. He said that there will be lands dedicated only for the shooting of Telugu films and also studio facilities.
In view of this, the Jagan-led AP Government has begun scouting land in various parts of the state. The AP government has decided to do land acquisition in Uttaranchal, Ubhaya Godavari, and Rayalaseema. This land will be used strictly for the shooting of films and the construction of studios.
The government has directed the concerned district collectors to set up special land funds for this purpose in the vicinities of Rajahmundry, Vishakapatnam, and Tirupati. The government has deemed it best to hand over the land to the Film Development Corporation.
They will also be adopting two approaches for the construction of studios. First, they will allow for bids to be placed on the land under the Construction Management Transfer scheme(BOT). Second, and probably the most likely approach is to allow people to set up studios privately.
This initiative from the AP government is aimed at enhancing the presence of the Telugu Film Industry in Andhra Pradesh as well. Currently, Telangana seems to be the major hub for Telugu cinema and Jagan is looking forward to changing that.
