Annapurna Studios Opens Advanced Motion Capture Lab in India

Ace filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli has unveiled India’s most advanced motion capture facility, the A&M Motion Capture Lab, at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. The state-of-the-art lab has been launched in collaboration with Akkineni Nagarjuna, Shobu Yarlagadda, and the global VFX company Animatrik Film Design.

This cutting-edge facility is designed to transform the way Indian films are made. Equipped with advanced motion capture and virtual production technology, the lab enables filmmakers to accurately capture actors’ performances, pre-visualize complex sequences, and create world-class visual effects with precision and efficiency.

Notably, key sequences of Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, have already been shot at the facility, showcasing its technical capabilities.

According to the information shared at the launch event, the lab will be accessible not only to filmmakers from Hyderabad but also to creators across India and abroad. ‘Avatar’ fame Hollywood cinema’s motion capture technology is now available in Hyderabad, bringing international standards to Indian filmmaking. 

The A&M Motion Capture Lab at the Annapurna Studios aims to position Hyderabad as a global hub for advanced film technology and high-end VFX production.
