The much awaited sequel of Akhanda, Akhanda 2 – Thaandavam has officially begun its shoot. The film will star Balakrishna reprising his role again alongside Pragya Jaiswal in the female lead role. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2 will be released as a Dussehra bonanza on 25th September, 2025. A release date promo has been released officially by the team on YouTube as well.
Akhanda which released in 2021 became a runaway blockbuster grossing more than 100 crores worldwide. The film acted as a big relief for Balakrishna who was going through a dull phase with his previous back to back disasters at the box office. He later continued the dominance provided by Akhanda with Veera Simha Reddy and Bhagavanth Kesari.
However, Director Boyapati Srinu couldn’t use the advantage of Akhanda by coming up with Skanda starring Ram Pothineni. Skanda became a big disaster completely disappointing the team. The Director will now aim to give a big comeback with Akhanda 2. Balakrishna will meet the audience with his Daaku Maharaaj on 12th January next year before Akhanda 2.
