Akhanda 2 Postponement Limits Losses

After the postponement, Akhanda 2's business deals were changed, helping the film limit its losses.

Anyone who has followed the Telugu film industry’s news for the last few weeks knows that Akhanda’s second part, starring Balakrishna, faced unexpected hurdles just before the release and was postponed by a week. The postponement of Akhanda 2 actually helped to limit losses for the buyers.

Even though it is a loss-making venture, the postponement has somehow saved the Akhanda 2 overseas distributor from bigger losses. The initially committed amount was ₹15 Cr, but after the postponement, it was revised to ₹9 Cr. Even at ₹9 Cr, the film is still emerging as a loss-making venture.

However, had the break-even point remained at ₹15 Cr, the losses would have been much higher. Even with a 5th December release, the box-office numbers would not have gone much higher. The same situation applies to other area buyers as well.

The initial worldwide breakeven value for the film was around 125 Cr, but due to postponement, the distributors are said to have paid around 100 Cr. Now, getting 100 Cr is also not possible, and the sequel to Akhanda will give the losses due to bad WOM and reviews, as it collects only 50 Cr in the weekend.
