While the fans await the grand theatrical release of Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, the producers of the film face big trouble ahead of its release, as they get involved in a legal issue.
The Madras High Court has issued an injunction preventing the release, distribution, or commercial exploitation of Akhanda 2. This order was passed in favor of Eros International, which is enforcing a ₹28 crore arbitral award against 14 Reels Entertainment.
The court found that releasing the film under the banner of 14 Reels Plus LLP was an attempt to bypass the legal judgment and has barred any release unless further orders permit it.
With all these hurdles, Akhanda 2 producers are in big trouble as they face the delay in the bookings of Nizam and now this financial settlement with Eros International. All the issues are expected to be resolved by this afternoon; if the delay continues, the impact could be much bigger.
While it is still uncertain whether the court’s injunction is about the film’s release in Tamil Nadu or the overall release, the fans hope that the negotiations, which are underway, will most likely be settled at the earliest.
