Tamil superstar Ajith has a massive fan following and has delivered several blockbuster hits at the box office, despite facing a few setbacks along the way. However, Ajith’s high remuneration seems to be creating problems for producers, causing some of them to back away from working with him.
Ajith recently delivered the biggest hit of his career with Good Bad Ugly, which was released last summer. Following that success, he planned to collaborate once again with the same director, Adhik Ravichandran. Although the project is ready to begin, it has not yet been officially announced.
The main reason behind the delay is reportedly Ajith’s demand for record-breaking remuneration. Producers were willing to offer him around ₹150 crore, but the actor is said to be asking for a much higher amount, making the project financially risky. As a result, several producers have shown interest but later stepped back.
While Ajith enjoys star status equal to Vijay and Rajinikanth in Tamil Nadu, his market outside the state is comparatively limited. In addition, OTT platforms are no longer paying the high prices they once did for digital rights, further affecting the film’s potential business.
Because of these factors, the total budget for Ajith and Adhik Ravichandran’s upcoming film is reportedly exceeding ₹300 crore. The actor’s high remuneration demand has significantly increased the production cost, which is why the film’s announcement and launch have been continuously postponed.
