Analysis: Director Teja is known for making Intense love stories. Though he has not tasted since years, still audience believe he can make a good film. He made an impression that this time he had a winner in his hands with Ahimsa movie through its promotions. But it does not take much time for the audience to know that they are in. for another disappointing outing from Teja within the first 20 minutes of Ahimsa. The movie opens with an intrigue about the lead character, but it fails to maintain the interest throughout. Though the major turn around if situation happens within the first 20 minutes, the narrative was unable to bring the required emotion.
After that, when Sadha’s character is introduced, it gives a feeling that we are in for an enthralling game, but her character ends very soon. without having the required impact. From there, what follows is a series of repetitive chase and action sequences which offer zero excitement as the audience are not at all connected to the main character’s painful journey. Except for a few meaningful dialogues and a few scenes in the second half. Also, the characterization of the villains was too ordinary and loud. The climax appears better, but again it is marred down by the stagy taking.
Performances: Daggubati Abhiram was fine for his debut. We can see the camera consciousness in his face in some scenes. Geethika Tiwary was impressive and brought some impact in the scenes she was present. Rajat Bedi, Manoj Tiger irritated because of their characters while Sadha, Ravi Kale, Kamal Kamaraju, Kalpalatha, Devi Prasad, and others were apt.
Plus Points:
- Few effective dialogues and scenes
- Camera work
- Initial moments of second half
Minus Points:
- Routine Story
- Beaten to death narration
- Irritating characters of Villains
- Zero Emotions
Verdict: Ahimsa could have been an engaging love action drama. But the director and fails to provide the desired effect except for a few scenes because of the overdramatic taking. You got to have a lot of patience to sit through the movie.
