Suresh Productions recently made it official that Venkatesh starter Narappa will be releasing on Amazon Prime on July 20th. Now it is being reported that the production house has completed the deal with another OTT giant for their upcoming production Virata Parvam. Netflix has acquired the rights of this Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi starrer.
The film was originally scheduled to release in April this year. However, the pandemic second wave pushed the release date. The continuous delays have now led to the decision of going for an OTT release.
This film, directed by Venu Udugula is based on the Naxalite movement that took place in Telangana in the 1990s. Nandita Das, Priyamani, Nivetha Pethuraj, and Naveen Chandra are playing key roles in this Suresh Productions project. The majority of the shooting took place in the forests of Vikarabad, Warangal and Kerala.
Interestingly, the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce recently issued a note requesting the producers to wait for a while and then go for a theatrical release. The statement put out has requested the producers to wait till October 2021 and if the situation still doesn’t improve then opt for OTT.
Suresh Productions, meanwhile has decided to release all the three of their upcoming films on OTT. After Narappa and Virata Parvam, it appears that Drushyam 2 will also go the digital way.
