Samantha’s last film, Shaakuntalam was a big disaster at the box office. Nandini Reddy’s Anni Manchi Sakunamule was also a big failure. Though the film’s posters, songs, teaser, and trailer promised a clean family entertainer, Nandini was unable to score a hit despite having a talented star cast and a good production house. Only a few sections of the audience liked the movie, but it was not sufficient to make it a hit at the box office.
