Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Pawan Kalyan’s OG have one thing in common: both films have got an A Certificate from the censor board, and the very censor rating has hindered both films’ box office potential.
Nowadays, multiplexes and even some iconic single-screen theaters strictly follow the censor guidelines, and if a film opts for an A rating, then it will move kids away, which will in turn impact the film’s box office revenue to an extent.
The makers use the A certificate for the sake of publicity and say that the film will have brutal and very violent scenes, but after watching the film, fans and audiences feel that this A rating is unnecessary.
Recently, the same happened for Rajinikanth’s Coolie, and now for OG also the same is happening. Both movies could have easily opted for U/A for the content with some minor changes.
During the festival holidays this A rating will impact the numbers more than expected. The makers need to be very cautious about censor ratings for films, at least from now on.
