For the past few days, social media has been buzzing with rumors that Netflix offered ₹600 crore for the all-language digital rights of Allu Arjun and Atlee’s upcoming film. However, these reports are not true. Such exaggerated figures about digital rights often circulate online.
The reality is quite different. Pushpa 2 currently holds the record for the biggest OTT deal in Indian cinema, and even for that film, the digital rights were sold for less than ₹300 crore. At present, the OTT market is facing a major slowdown, and platforms are no longer offering huge amounts like before.
Even pan-Indian films are struggling to secure OTT deals worth ₹100 to ₹150 crore. Only a few star-driven projects manage to get offers in the range of ₹150 to ₹200 crore. Very rarely, one or two big international-level films receive offers above ₹200 crore, but no movie has received more than ₹300 crore from any OTT platform so far.
Therefore, the rumors about a ₹600 crore digital rights deal for the Allu Arjun–Atlee film are completely baseless. The makers would be extremely happy if they managed to secure even 40–50% of the amount being discussed online.
