Prashanth Neel-presented horror thriller 418 is getting paid premieres a day before its release. The premiere shows begin on October 22 from the 10:48 PM show onwards, and they will play only on Dolby Atmos screens.
Bookings for the premieres open tomorrow.
418 Premiere and Release Details
- Paid Premieres: October 22, from 10:48 PM
- Screens: Dolby Atmos only
- Bookings: Open October 21
- Release: October 23
- Languages: Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi
Why Dolby Atmos Only?
Limiting the premieres to Dolby Atmos screens is a smart move for a horror film. Sound plays a huge role in building fear, and Atmos surround sound makes every creak, whisper and jump scare hit harder.
The late-night show timing adds to the experience. Watching a horror film close to midnight is exactly the kind of thrill the makers are going for.
What 418 Is About
The story follows Vivek, an 18-year-old who struggles to tell what’s real from what’s in his head. When a building that has been sealed for 15 years is reopened, all attention turns to Room No. 418, which seems to hide its darkest secret.
Chaithra Achar, Surya Raj Veerabathini, Charan Lakkaraju, Preethi Pagadala and Shashank Patil play key roles.
Neel’s Protege Turns Director
418 is written and directed by Kirtan Nadagouda, who makes his debut as a director. He worked as an assistant and co-director to Prashanth Neel on his films, and Neel is now presenting his first project.
The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar, and it’s Mythri Movie Makers’ first horror film.
A Long Road to Release
418 was originally set for July 31. The film ran into censor objections over its intense horror and went to the CBFC Revising Committee, before being cleared with an A certificate.
It was then set for September 18, but Mythri pushed it again to plan a wider release in four languages after strong responses from special screenings. The film finally arrives on October 23.
Netflix has acquired the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights.
